How Scrabble Offline works

Everyone plays on the same device. Pass it round after each turn, and nobody sees anyone else's tiles.

Add 2 to 4 players

Type everyone's name and choose how many power-ups each player gets, from none to three.

Pass the phone

Your rack stays hidden until you tap Show my tiles, so you can hand the phone over without spoilers.

Make words, score big

Drag tiles onto the board. Every word is checked and scored for you, including premium squares and the 50-point bingo.

Three ways to play with no internet

Load it once and you're set for flights, road trips, campsites and anywhere else with no signal.

In your browser

Open this site once while you're online. The game is saved on your device, so the same address works later with no connection.

Open the game

On your home screen

Install it like an app. On Android and computers use Install app or the browser menu. On iPhone use Share then Add to Home Screen.

As one file

Download the whole game as a single HTML file (about 0.8 MB) and open it in any browser. No install, no connection, ever.

Everything you need for game night

The full 15×15 board and 100-tile bag, plus a few helpers you can switch off.

194,000-word list

Every word you play is checked against a built-in English word list, British spellings included. No arguments, no dictionary hunting.

Power-ups

Best word lays out your top-scoring move, Free swap trades tiles without losing your turn, and Radar lights up the best squares.

Saves every move

Close the tab mid-game and pick up where you left off. Undo the last move, check the move history, or see which tiles are still unplayed.

Phone, tablet or laptop

The board resizes to fill any screen, upright or sideways. Zoom in for tight spots, drag or tap to place tiles.

Private by design

No account and no ads. Your games stay in your browser on your device and are never uploaded.

Light or dark

The game follows your device's light or dark setting, with tile sounds you can turn off from the menu.

Quick rules

The classic crossword-style tile game rules. The game checks every move for you.

  1. The first word must cover the ★ in the centre and use at least 2 tiles.
  2. Place new tiles in one row or one column with no gaps. They must join tiles already on the board, and every word you form counts.
  3. DL and TL double or triple a letter. DW and TW double or triple the whole word. A premium square only counts on the turn it is covered.
  4. Use all 7 tiles in one turn for a 50-point bingo. Blank tiles can be any letter and score 0.
  5. Instead of playing you can swap tiles (while 7 or more are in the bag) or pass.
  6. The game ends when someone plays their last tile with the bag empty, or after a run of scoreless turns. Leftover tiles come off each score.
